About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Credit Controller to join our friendly Finance Team. This is a key role that helps ensure WSET’s cashflow is well managed, customer accounts are accurate, and finance queries are handled with professionalism and care.
You’ll take ownership of core finance functions—credit control, cashbook management, and the Finance Inbox—while also supporting wider team initiatives. If you enjoy building positive relationships, solving problems, and bringing clarity to financial processes, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control
- Manage the full credit control cycle, including issuing statements, chasing overdue payments and maintaining accurate customer ledgers.
- Build and nurture positive relationships with customers while ensuring timely collections.
- Escalate aged debts or potential credit risks to the Finance Manager when appropriate.
- Review and update credit limits and terms in collaboration with management.
Cash Book Management
- Maintain and reconcile daily cashbooks across all WSET bank accounts.
- Post and allocate customer BACs payments to invoices in NetSuite.
- Support month-end close by preparing and posting all relevant cash-related journals.
Finance Queries & Team Support
- Take full ownership of the Finance Inbox—triaging, prioritising, and responding to enquiries promptly and professionally.
- Raise manual invoices (e.g., rent and ad-hoc invoicing).
- Provide ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and general support to the Finance Manager and wider team.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
Person Specification
Essential
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a credit control role
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A proactive, problem-solving approach to work
- A strong customer service ethos
- Proficiency with accounting systems and MS Office package (intermediate level skills in Excel)
Desirable
- Experience of using NetSuite accounting system
- Experience of working in an international business
Hybrid | Salary: up to £36,000| Full-Time
