Contract for services: Technical Editor (Wine)

We are the world’s leading provider of qualifications in wines, spirits and sake, delivering over 140,000 exams each year to candidates in over 70 countries via our network of Approved Programme Providers (APPs).

We are seeking multiple detail-oriented and knowledgeable Technical Editors (subject-matter experts in wine) to ensure accurate and high-quality translation of educational content. The candidates must be fluent in English and target language(s) and would join our team on a freelance basis. This is a home-based position flexible to the individual’s needs. The ideal candidates have a passion for accuracy, education and effective communication. This role involves:
Content Review and Quality Assurance:
Review translated wine-related text content in the target language(s) to ensure accuracy and adherence to industry and professional standards.
Verify the correct usage of wine terminology and industry language in educational materials.
Ensure that the final translation is of high quality, meets industry expectations and is free from any technical inaccuracies.
Wine Knowledge Consultation:
Act as a consultant to provide insights and guidance on wine-related topics and terminology in the target language(s).
Assist the Localisation Team with technical queries throughout the project localisation process.
Utilize prior teaching or training experience to support the translation of the educational material during the localisation process.
Team collaboration:
Collaborate with content creators and other teams to ensure technical accuracy in wine-related materials in the target language(s).
Collaborate with WSET’s Localisation Team, other technical editors and linguists to discuss and establish translations for key and technical terminology.
Requirements
The successful candidate must be a WSET Diploma Graduate with specialist wine knowledge.
Native speaker of one of the following languages is required for this position: Japanese or Korean.
English language proficiency is at a professional working level, e.g. CEFR C1/B2 or equivalent.
Attention to detail, strong communication, organisational abilities, and a commitment to high-quality, error-free work.
Preferred Skills
Experience working in a multicultural or multilingual environment.
Familiarity with printed and digital content creation tools or platforms.
Familiarity with CAT tools or any translation-assisted software.
A keen interest in wine education and advancing global wine knowledge.
