Blessings in brushstrokes: embracing Lunar New Year traditions
Yesterday, I had the privilege of participating in an incredible celebration of the Lunar New Year, hosted by WSET’s East and South East Asian network. Among the various uplifting activities, I had my first go at Chinese calligraphy using one of those enormous paintbrushes.
Members of the group helped me to create a New Year blessing banner which is some way related to a horse, symbolising success and achievement—something I hope will bring good fortune to my equestrian exploits this year. I’m going to display it proudly in my horsebox 🐎✨
I experienced so much joy in learning about the New Lunar year traditions and the culture behind them. Creative activities are especially powerful in building understanding and connection both within and outside of work. A massive thank you to the team for organising such a meaningful event and for sharing your traditions with us - Cheuk Ying Chan Wing Yee Yeung and others.
May the year ahead bring success and happiness to all! 🎉#wset #lunarnewyear #culturehashtag #inclusion
